Basic Function:

 The Department of Veterinary Technology- Kent State University at Tuscarawas is interested in identifying high-quality adjunct faculty who can teach a range of classroom and laboratories in our AVMA CVTEA accredited veterinary technology program.

Additional Basic Function – if applicable:

 

Examples of Duties:

Teaches one or more courses in the Veterinary Technology Program. Can be classroom or laboratories or a combination.  This may include animal handling and clinical techniques of a variety of species.

Pepares and delivers learning activities to achieve course outcomes

Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts

Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations

Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades, and other required documentation by specified deadlines

Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and

collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student

and faculty interaction, and support for learners

Periodic meetings with Program Director relative to teaching duties, training, and development

Follow current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program and/or develop such when indicated by the Program Director.

Submit, in writing, current supply and equipment needs to the appropriate supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:


Successful candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant, related area

Active Registered Veterinary Technician licensure in the State of Ohio OR

Active Veterinary Medical licensure in the State of Ohio

The successful candidate should have very good communication skills with an ability to relate to undergraduate students, a broad veterinary technology knowledge is preferred with at least two years’ work experience.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

 Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
