Assistant Director, Scholarships (revised)

Physical Location:

Kent Campus - Kent, OH 

Salary:

 $45,599 - $51,500

Basic Function:

To assist in providing leadership and supervision in the administration of university scholarship programs. Serves as a liaison with athletic department to support NCAA Division 1A scholarship program. Reports to Director, Scholarships.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Assist in directing a particular program or service provided by the university scholarship office; establish procedures for awarding, processing, and adjusting student aid; monitor program expenditures; supervise and train staff on program guidelines and procedures.

Assist in ensuring program compliance with federal, state, and university policies and regulations related to student aid.

Recommend awards for eligible students, solutions for awarding problems, and procedural improvements for financial aid programs within the eight-campus university system.

Complete activities related to the annual A-133 audit, Ohio Board of Regents audit of scholarships and National Collegiate Athletic Association audits.

Collaborate with athletic department designee to ensure aid compliance required for Kent State’s participation in NCAA Division 1A.

Advise and collaborate with academic units on leveraging scholarships in conjunction with university awards.

Compile, analyze, and report data on student aid programs.

Collaborate with internal and external constituents on issues related to student aid programs.

Develop and coordinate the production of department publications to ensure effective communication of program requirements. Serve on various committees.

May respond to complaints related to student aid programs.

May develop marketing initiatives and conduct presentations on student aid programs.

Provide direct supervision to unclassified and classified employees.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in public administration, accounting or related field. Three years of related experience in higher education or business.

License/Certification:

Not applicable. 

Knowledge Of:

Personal computer applications *

Organizing information and projects, and Adhering to deadlines

Ability To:

Provide leadership and direction *

Reconcile and analyze accounts and financial information and Work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Master's degree.

 Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm or otherwise discussed with you supervisor.
