Job Title:

Assistant Director, Student Financial Aid

Physical Location:

 Kent State University - Kent, OH

Salary:

 $46,977

Basic Function:

To assist in providing leadership and supervision in the administration of federal, state, and University student aid programs. Reports to Director, Student Financial Aid.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Assist in directing a particular program or service provided by the Student Financial Aid department; establish procedures for awarding, processing, and adjusting student aid; monitor program expenditures; supervise and train staff on program guidelines and procedures.

Assist in ensuring program compliance with federal, state, and University policies and regulations related to student aid.

Recommend awards for eligible students, solutions for awarding problems, and procedural improvements for financial aid programs within the eight-campus University system.

Compile, analyze, and report data on student aid programs.

Collaborate with internal and external constituents on issues related to student aid programs.

Develop and coordinate the production of department publications to ensure effective communication of program requirements.

Serve on various committees.

May respond to complaints related to student aid programs.

May develop marketing initiatives and conduct presentations on student aid programs.

Provides leadership of a small department, unit, or major function and/or direct supervision over administrative/professional employees.


Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a relevant field; two years progressively responsible experience in student personnel.

License/Certification:

Not applicable.

Personal computer applications

Skill In:

Written and interpersonal communication

Ability To:

Provide leadership and direction

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Master's degree preferred

Working Schedule:

 Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm, occasional evenings and weekends
