Job Title:

Associate Athletic Director, Athletics Chief of Staff

Physical Location:

 Kent Campus - Kent, OH

Salary:

 $70,000 - $75,000

Basic Function:

Direct the daily operations of the Office of the Director of Athletics, organize and coordinate team of administrative professionals in the planning, execution, and coordination of the Vice President, Director of Intercollegiate of Athletics schedule, special events correspondence and reports, and office communications. Manage issues and requests for the Vice President, Director of Intercollegiate of Athletics Office. Reports to the Vice President, Director of Intercollegiate of Athletics.

Additional Basic Function – if applicable:

 

Provide oversight and management of strategic priorities and initiatives for KSU Athletics.

Work closely with University administration and athletic staff to plan, prepare and manage the Vice President, Director of Intercollegiate of Athletics schedule. Serve as primary contact for internal and external constituencies regarding the Vice President, Director of Intercollegiate of Athletics calendar.

Review and develop briefings and other meeting materials.

Serve as primary liaison with athletic staff, university personnel, students, external consultants, and the general public, representing the Vice President, Director of Intercollegiate of Athletics as needed.

Serve as primary liaison with the Division of Human Resources; coordinate and oversee human resources-related activities and functions. Support and or coordinate employment searches as assigned.

Serve and coordinate with Athletics' Executive Team members in the development of policies and procedures.

Manage the annual report process. Provide research on key focus areas and develop presentations and agendas.

Develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with key internal and external constituents.

Provide direct supervision of graduate assistants and/or student employees; approve time and leave for classified employees.

Direct and execute special projects and programs.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sports Administration, or related field. Four years of progressively responsible experience in sports administration at the Division I level. Must be able to work nontraditional hours, including evenings and weekends.

License/Certification:

Knowledge Of:

Local, state, federal, National Collegiate Athletics Associate, and Mid-American Conference laws and regulations related to intercollegiate Athletics *
Directing complex office operations or assisting a senior role/executive level officer

Skill In:

Event planning, management and execution *
Direct oversight of personnel and event logistics
Written, verbal, interpersonal communication; public relations *
Editing documents for clarity, accuracy, tone and relevance
Organizational behavior and time management
Exhibiting sound judgment, diplomacy, good decision making, and discretion *
Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable software *

Ability To:

Facilitate with proven creativity and solve problems *
Possess considerable attention to detail, a high level of quality control, and maintain a high customer-focus with contacts *
Coordinate a wide range of support and technical professionals and develop a coordinated workflow and timeline to manage multiple projects *
Research national and international standards of etiquette and protocol
Manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with responsiveness and attention to detail in all areas of work
Work independently and as part of a team
Build relationships with key stakeholders within a team approach

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Master’s degree in a related field.

Experience working on a regular basis with University Leadership, Executive Officers, external partners, donors, and student-athletes.

Experience implementing and managing an athletics specific communications, academics, compliance and NIL education platform
 
Experience with intercollegiate athletics specific strategic initiatives (e.g. Student-Athlete Development)
 
Experience providing administrative support to Division I Intercollegiate Athletics sport programs and Head Coaches.
