Job Title:

Communications and Marketing Specialist

Physical Location:

 Kent Campus - Kent, OH

Salary:

 $42,357 - $46,637

Basic Function:

To produce and provide project support and oversight of tasks that involve electronic and print marketing (web publishing, emails, multi-media and maintenance of web pages) for a campus, College or department while ensuring University brand standards are utilized. Reports to Manager, Communications and Marketing or designated supervisor.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Write various promotional content ranging from news and events to feature content.

Generate multiple creative design concepts to arrive at the best end product, as dictated by the project medium.

Design graphical elements and prepare images for the website and other electronic outlets. Includes manipulating stock photography.

Create graphic collateral for print mediums including newsletters and other recruitment/retention collateral.

Ensure website and design elements meet all University standards.

Perform website maintenance, including photo updates, content updates, gap analysis of content and subsequent content development.

Review website for dated material and works with content providers to add or delete content.

Manage and maintain digital photo library.

Take photos, as needed.

Maintain web calendar by posting campus events via appropriate system.

Coordinate production of multimedia including slideshows, maps and video clips.

Oversee social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube) and work with content providers to create ongoing calendar for posts; posts content.

Produce analytic reports and charts on web traffic, social media traffic, QR code and email results.

Provide support to marketing department for web development needs for implementation of marketing/recruitment campaigns; specific landing pages, QR code generation, etc.

May supervise students as assigned.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing, or relevant field or one year of additional experience may be substituted for each year of the education requirement. Three months experience with Content Management Systems, website maintenance and support Microsoft Applications, web-based communications and design.

License/Certification:

 

Knowledge Of:

Content Management Systems and web-based communications and design *
Web architecture
Graphic design principles *
Grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary *
Social media platforms

Skill In:

Creating graphical elements; graphic design for print and electronic mediums
Utilizing digital camera
Basic html
Using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat Professional
Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable software
Organizing information and projects
Adhering to deadlines *

Ability To:

Provide leadership to others
Develop a coordinated workflow/timeline to manage multiple projects
Build relationships with external/internal constituents
Work independently and as part of a team
Multi-task while managing multiple projects and assignments *

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Experience in higher education.
