Basic Function:

To perform custodial duties to provide for care, cleaning, and routine maintenance of buildings, furniture, and fixtures according to established work rules.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, wax, and polish to renew floor surfaces; clean and shampoo carpets; operate various cleaning machines (e.g., buffers, shampooers, vacuums, hall machines, extractors).

Clean, dust, and wax furniture and fixtures; shampoo upholstered furniture; wash walls; clean glass and mirrors; remove and hang drapes.

Empty and clean trash receptacles and/or recycling bins.

May change light bulbs and clean light fixtures.

Move and arrange furniture and equipment; may set up rooms for functions and events.

May launder bed linens, towels, wash cloths, mop heads, rags, and other custodial equipment.

Maintains a clean and orderly supply closet; monitors supply levels and reports supply needs to supervisor.

Maintains equipment, reports need for repairs; reports evidence of fire, illegal entry, and theft of property.

May train and direct student employees; may participate in training new employees.

Performs related duties as required.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others and stand and/or walk during the majority of the work day.

Working Schedule:

 Part-time custodial position (4-hours/day) at the College of Podiatric Medicine. This position works 2nd shift Sundays through Thursdays.
