Basic Function:
To provide leadership for a unit within the Digital Enterprise Solutions in the Division of Information Technology, in a manner consistent with the university mission; to serve as an advocate for innovative and effective use of academic computing and related technology at Kent State University and Regional Campuses. Reports to the Associate Chief Information Officer or designated administrator.

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Provide leadership to a diverse team of administrative, professional, and support staff, overseeing all departmental activities and personnel administration.
Establish and execute strategic goals, objectives, and initiatives to enhance the university's reputation, attract and retain students, and achieve departmental objectives.
Drive the development and implementation of computing operations and technology support, ensuring alignment with client needs and priorities.
Stay abreast of instructional technology trends, conducting research, and providing recommendations for enhancement.
Represent the university on various departmental, divisional, and university committees, serving as an authority on enterprise information technology.
Ensure compliance with human resource management practices, including equal employment opportunity and affirmative action, while fostering employee development.
Provide leadership and supervision to departmental staff, guiding their professional growth and performance.
Perform related duties as assigned.
POSITION-SPECIFIC TECHNICAL AREAS MIGHT INCLUDE:
Digital Enterprise Solutions: Oversight and management of tier-1 enterprise systems, data, and services they perform.
Support Infrastructure and Research Technology: Oversight and management of network services, infrastructure operations and support, telecommunications, voice networks and client services.
Data Management & Analytics: Oversight and management of enterprise data flows, analytics and reporting.

Master’s degree in computer science, management information systems or related field or bachelor’s degree plus two years related experience in addition to experience listed below.
Plus 10 years experience in IT, including 4 years in a direct management role managing enterprise technologies at a large institution and/or infrastructure and operations and/or enterprise data management functions (depending on area of responsibility).
License/Certification:
None.
Knowledge Of:
Higher-education ERP systems, Educational Technology platforms and tools
Networking principles including security principles
Supervisor, managerial and budgeting principles
Personal computer applications
Project management principles and strategic planning *
Skill In:
Leadership, direction, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills *
Organizing information and projects
Strategic analytical oversight
Ability To:
Read and write technical documentation
Manage people and projects *
