Salary:

$50.00

Basic Function:

To dispense pharmaceuticals and assist in the operations of the campus health center pharmacy serving KSU students, faculty, and staff. Reports to Chief Pharmacist.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Dispense prescriptions for patients in accordance with all federal and state laws, Ohio State Board of Pharmacy rules, and UHS policies.

Counsel patients on prescription and over-the-counter medications.

Ensure patient safety through verification of drug dosage, possible drug interactions, and patient drug allergies.

Maintain data for quality assurance and other projects as needed.

Compound a limited number of special medications as clinically appropriate.

Consult with doctors, nurses, and other health care personnel regarding patient care.

Order, stock, and price prescription and non-prescription medications, vaccines, and non-prescription items as needed.

Research drug information as requested by clinical staff.

Serve as preceptor to pharmacy students on approved clinical rotations.

Participate in multi-disciplinary department meetings.

Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Pharm D. or Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy. One year experience in an ambulatory pharmacy setting.

License/Certification:

Unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the State of Ohio.

Knowledge Of:

Electronic prescribing systems *
Insurance reimbursement, especially as it applies to pharmaceuticals *
Ohio dispensing laws *

Skill In:

Written and interpersonal communication *

Ability To:

Work with diverse populations
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
