Basic Function:

WE ARE SEEKING A FULL-TIME RESEARCH TECHNICIAN TO WORK IN DR. ALEISHA MOORE’S LABORATORY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES AND BRAIN HEALTH RESEARCH INSTITUTE AT KENT STATE UNIVERSITY. RESEARCH IN THE MOORE LAB FOCUSES ON UNDERSTANDING THE BRAIN CIRCUITS THAT CONTROL FERTILITY IN MAMMALS AND HOW CHANGES IN THESE CIRCUITS LEAD TO INFERTILITY DISORDERS SUCH AS POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME.

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE THE MAINTENANCE OF A MOUSE COLONY (INCLUDING PCR GENOTYPING), PERFORMING EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES (SUCH AS COLLECTING BRAIN TISSUE SAMPLES AND SMALL ANIMAL SURGERY), PERFORMING LITERATURE SEARCHES, ORDERING SUPPLIES, ASSISTING RESEARCH PERSONNEL, TRAINING UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS, AND OTHER WORK THAT IS REQUIRED FOR THE RESEARCH PROJECT. AS PART OF THESE DUTIES, APPLICANTS SHOULD EXPECT DAILY CONTACT WITH LABORATORY MICE. LIGHT LIFTING AS WELL AS FREQUENT TRAVEL BETWEEN BUILDINGS WILL BE REQUIRED.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN BIOLOGY, NEUROSCIENCE, OR RELATED FIELD. PRIOR RESEARCH EXPERIENCE IS DESIRABLE. APPLICANTS SHOULD BE DETAIL-ORIENTED, ABLE TO WORK AS PART OF A TEAM OR INDEPENDENTLY AND HAVE GOOD TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS.
