Basic Function

Assist in the direction of the operational, administrative and programmatic activities for the Office of Experiential Education and Civic Engagement. Provide leadership for university-wide initiatives associated with experiential education and civic engagement opportunities for students. Reports to Director, Office of Experiential Education and Civic Engagement.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Develop in collaboration with director and assist with the implementation of campus-wide initiatives, methodologies and approaches to increase initial and ongoing participation of faculty, staff, and students in experiential education and civic engagement opportunities.

Oversee the National Student Exchange program including the recruitment and support of student participants.

Assist with training community partners, faculty, staff, and students leading and engaged in experiential education and civic engagement opportunities.

Develop opportunities for faculty and community organization staff to improve and deepen partnerships and enhance community based learning and scholarship.

Lead the collection and assessment of data to support application for Carnegie Community Engagement classification and other applicable designations.

Assist in the development and implementation of experiential education and civic engagement projects in collaboration with faculty, other departments and community organizations.

Assist in the administration of the Experiential Learning Requirement including processing and updating forms and aiding students in their goal to identify and complete the requirement.

Assist in developing, nurturing and sustaining faculty and community partnerships for teaching and scholarship.

Assist in the development of evaluation and assessment of community-based learning experiences.

Assist in the development of information about KSU partnership opportunities through workshops, site visits, and resource materials.

Assist in the development of systems of data collection and a database of agencies and partners that are inclusive of all curricula and co-curricular programs.

Pursue grant funding.

Assist with the management of the departmental budget.

Responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the Office of EECE.

Supervise designated unclassified staff and provide functional guidance of student leaders, support staff, other employees, and volunteers who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in a relevant field; Four years of relevant university-level experience.

Knowledge Of:
Competency based student outcomes assessment; and understanding of the goals and practices of active, experiential community-based education
Grant proposal research / writing

Skill In:
Interpersonal communication including public speaking, with demonstrated abilities to facilitate groups
Office administration including the ability to prepare reports, manuals, and informational materials
Personal computer applications

Ability To:
Lead multi-discipline teams
Analyze situations and develop effective solutions
Collaborate and work with teams
Manage budgets; and the overall capability to work effectively within grant and institutional policies, procedures and timelines
Develop and sustain faculty and community partnerships

Physical Requirements

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
