Associate Dean, University College - INTERNAL ONLY POSTING FOR CURRENT KSU EMPLOYEES

Salary:

 Commensurate with experience

Basic Function:

To assist the Dean in administration of University College. Reports to Dean of University College.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Provide leadership in the daily operations of University College. 

Serve as a member of the Dean’s senior management team; represent the college in the absence of the Dean. Provide leadership and oversight of multiple departments within University College. 

Supervise and evaluate all staff under purview. 

Communicate with graduate faculty and administrators regarding general issues of graduate program management, Ohio Board of Regents oversight and regulation, and federal and state compliance. 

Revise existing graduate policies and procedures. Lead efforts to develop new policies and procedures consistent with the University’s mission and values. 

Lead the development and implementation of student success strategies focusing on retention, persistence, and sense of belonging. Oversee and evaluate externally funded programs under purview to ensure programs align with grant objectives. 

Ensure the appropriate tracking and assessment procedures and practices are in place for all programs under purview; coordinate publication, reporting and communication of results. 

Manage, allocate, and monitor department budgets, including grants; assist dean in budget development for the college. Lead writing efforts related to external federal grants and actively seek additional grants to fund other efforts. 

Lead the University College Advisory Committee, Graduate College Advisory Committee, and manage curricular actions in University College including but not limited to maintenance of College Handbook, curriculum revisions for university-wide undergraduate and graduate course offerings, new course proposals, and instructor review procedures. 

Lead assessment initiatives and represent University College in the accreditation process by collaborating with the Office of Assessment, Accreditation, and Learning and through service on related committee(s). 

Administer University College scholarships, including the administration of scholarships and supplemental aid; collaborate with Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement; and engage with donors to develop new financial resources for students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in higher education, social science or other related field. A minimum of five years of experience in higher education, with a focus on student success. Experience as a graduate faculty member with scholarship, teaching and service appropriate for appointment at the rank of associate professor. 

License/Certification:

Knowledge Of:

Academic programs; budgeting; strategic planning; personal computer applications *

Effective recruitment strategies and techniques * 

The student lifecycle, including the high school to college educational transition process and the college to graduate school transition process 

Skill In:

Organization, assessment, problem solving, and decision making * 

Written and interpersonal communication with the ability to communicate effectively with all components of the university (faculty, staff and students) and external constituents * 

Ability To:

Provide leadership, direction, and motivation to help ensure obtainment of division's goals *

Work on a team with individuals from intellectually and culturally diverse backgrounds *

Maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations 

Work independently under pressure using good judgment with an appropriate sense of priorities

 Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM, or otherwise discussed with your supervisor
