Basic Function:
Performs routine tasks in receipt, pick-up, and delivery of materials and supplies. Transports furniture, office equipment, and related items. Operates vehicles and mechanical equipment as required to facilitate loading, unloading, and transport of materials. Moves, assembles, and repairs furniture (e.g., desks, chairs, beds, etc.). Routinely interacts with all constituents in the campus community. Reports to Receiving and Distribution Supervisor, Storekeeper I, Storekeeper II, or other designated supervisor.

Examples of Duties:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Loads and unloads furniture and related materials onto and off trucks. Drives a delivery truck to pick up and deliver supplies, equipment and equipment (e.g., furniture, office equipment, freight, etc.).
May unpack and assemble furniture, office equipment, applicances, etc., with the use of powered and manual hand tools.
Operates a large moving truck in the transporation of moving materials.
Operates forklifts, mechanical lift gates, and mechanical platforms to facilitate loading and unloading of materials.
Signs and accounts for all goods, obtains signature for receipt of merchandise upon delivery.
Sets up and/or erects and dismantles materials and equipment for special events (e.g., commencements, concerts, registrations, conferences, and banquets).
Moves, assembles, and sets up furniture (e.g., desks, chairs, tables, bookcases, etc.) in various buildings on campus.
Assists in general maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities; may pump gasoline and wash vehicles; keeps area cleaned of snow, trash, etc.
Loads, unloads, and moves materials utilizing tow motor and/or hand fork lift.
May serve as the main contact person in communications with customers regarding working orders and maintain records of work performed.
May perform stockroom duties; keeps records on items as necessary; takes special and/or periodic inventory counts, may investigate discrepancies between actual inventory and control records.
May train and direct student employees or employees in a lower pay grade; may participate in training new employees.
Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of six months experience in the following: operating various types of equipment used in the moving of materails (e.g., powered pallet jacks, powered forklifts, tow motors, etc.); operating large motorized vehicles used in the moving of materials; and operating power and handtools.
License/Certification:
Must possess valid Ohio driver's license with safe driving record or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with proper endorsements and safe driving record, if assigned to operate vehicles regulated by Section 4506.01 of Ohio Revised Code or obtain as soon as possible with extension up to 6 months from date of hire. Individuals will be subject to controlled substance/alcohol testing in positions where such is required by federal regulations.

Skill In:
Interpersonal communication to effectively interact with University personnel and public in person and over the telephone (e.g., to discuss
placement of deliveries).
Ability To:
Operate various equipment, motorized vehicles and/or tools (e.g., 2 1/2 ton delivery truck, cargo van, hand and fork lift, power and hand tools).
Demonstrate physical dexterity and lift 100 pounds.
Read (e.g., work orders, instructions), write (e.g., log deliveries), and accurately follow oral, written, and graphic instructions.
Utilize a computerized work order management system.
Operate a computer or electronic device for data entry/retrieval.
Assemble furniture, shelves, and storage bins.
Apply appropriate safety practices.
Perform general maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities.
Perform basic mathematics (e.g., add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, decimals, and fractions, and to calculate
percentages).
Maintain accurate records.
Identify pairs of items as same or different.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, cleaning solutions, noise, variable temperatures and weather conditions; requires considerable physical exertion to include frequent lifting and moving of up to 100 pounds (e.g., furniture, file cabinets, desks), stooping, and extended periods of walking and standing; may work varied hours and shifts to include weekends, evenings, and holidays; may be called to work in emergency situations; requires on- and off-campus travel.
Working Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; however, schedule may vary to meet departmental needs.
