Basic Function:

A GRANT-FUNDED POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW POSITION IS AVAILABLE IN THE AREA OF REPRODUCTIVE NEUROENDOCRINOLOGY IN THE LABORATORY OF DR. ALEISHA MOORE AT KENT STATE UNIVERSITY, KENT OHIO.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

THE GOAL OF THE RESEARCH PROJECT IS TO DEFINE THE CRITICAL CENTRAL NEURONAL CIRCUITS CONTROLLING FERTILITY AND DETERMINE WHETHER PERTURBATIONS WITHIN THESE CIRCUITS UNDERLIE NEUROENDOCRINE DYSFUNCTION IN POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME. EXPERIMENTS WILL INVOLVE ANATOMICAL (IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY, TRACT-TRACING) AND FUNCTIONAL (CHEMOGENETICS, OPTOGENETICS, IN VIVO CALCIUM IMAGING) TECHNIQUES IN TRANSGENIC MOUSE MODELS IN COMBINATION WITH REPRODUCTIVE PHENOTYPING AND HORMONE SAMPLING.

Minimum Qualifications:

CANDIDATES MUST HAVE A PHD DEGREE, PREFERABLY IN NEUROENDOCRINOLOGY, NEUROSCIENCE, OR PHYSIOLOGY, AND SOLID EXPERIENCE WITH CONTEMPORARY TECHNIQUES. SUITABLE CANDIDATES MUST ALSO HAVE EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS AS DEMONSTRATED BY A TRACK RECORD OF PUBLICATIONS AND PRESENTATIONS, BE ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THEIR WORK, AND BE HIGHLY MOTIVATED TO SUCCEED.

EXPERTISE WITH NEUROANATOMY AND STEREOTAXIC SURGERY IS PREFERRED.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
