Job Title:

Student Leadership Coordinator, University Housing

 Kent Campus - Kent, OH

Salary:

$41,114 - $55,389 

Basic Function:

Work collaboratively with Assistant Director of Engagement and Student Leadership to provide direction and operational oversight for leadership, involvement, and advising initiatives for students living in on-campus housing. Oversee the Residential Engagement Councils (REC) program and work alongside in-hall staff to provide guidance, assistance, and support to create and maintain thriving RECs in the hall communities. Additionally, the position will support and co-advise Kent Interhall Council (KIC) and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH). Reports to designated supervisor.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Serve as the coordinator for the residence hall councils in University Housing.

Develop and implement advising training for professional staff; guide advisors on operational policies and best practices related to student leadership groups.

Design and implement a recruitment and retention process for residence hall councils.

Facilitate a monthly Advisor Roundtable meeting for Residence Hall Directors (RHDs) and Assistant Residence Hall Directors (ARHDs).

Participate in key programs (Movers and Grooversand Sibs and Kids Weekend) including transporting and lifting objects for set-up and take-down.

Attend student meetings and key programs and events.

Provide leadership for the election process for hall councils in conjunction with residence hall staff.

Co-advise student organizations such as KIC and NRHH.

Attend regional student leadership conferences (NEOHO) with students, including coordinating travel logistics.

Serve as a liaison for University Housing regarding other leadership initiatives within the division.

Represent University Housing on various committees and involvements with leadership.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in higher education, student personnel, or relevant field.  Two years of experience in a student services area.  Must be able to work nontraditional hours as required, including evenings and weekends.

License/Certification:

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Master's degree in higher education, student personnel, or relevant field.  Live-in residence hall director experience.  Experience in advising cultural and/or identity based student organizations.  Experience with delivering professional presentations and/or creating publications on college student leadership topics.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.  Incumbent must be able to communicate with others.  Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.

 Must be able to work nontraditional hours as required, including evenings and weekends.
