Basic Function:
The School of Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Studies at Kent State University, Stark Campus, invites applications for part-time faculty who can teach in-person on the Stark Campus teaching either Reading and Writing in Middle Childhood or Integrated Social Studies and Science in Middle Childhood beginning with the Fall 2025 semester. Note the minimum requirements are a master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a closely related discipline and at least 3 years teaching in the necessary content area (ELA, social studies or science). It’s preferred to have the experience in grades 4-9 but other K-12 teaching experience is considered.Additional Basic Function – if applicable:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Adjunct faculty are expected to:
Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts.
Prepare and deliver learning activities to achieve course outcomes.
Evaluate and grade students’ class work, assignments, papers, and examinations.
Maintain and submit student grades in a timely fashion and other required documentation by specified deadlines.
Be available to students for office hours.
Be sensitive to the needs of a diverse population.

A master’s degree in a relevant, related area (education master’s degree, curriculum & instruction), is required.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
