Assistant Director of Public Safety, Parking and Transit Services (INTERNAL KSU CANDIDATES ONLY)

Salary:
$66,705 - $85,000
Basic Function:
Administer the operations, personnel, financial, and budgetary functions of Parking and Transit Services. Reports to the Director of Public Safety.

Examples of Duties:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Provide leadership and oversee the administration of Parking and Transit Services.
- Serve as a member of the leadership team for the Department of Public Safety.
- Collaborate with the leadership of the Department of Public Safety in reviewing and recommending modifications to university and administrative policies regarding parking and parking rates on campus.
- Develop and implement goals and objectives for Parking and Transit Services.
- Provide direct supervision to unclassified and classified staff; administer personnel functions to include recruitment, retention, and professional development.
- Participate in collective bargaining functions and processes.
- Collaborate with leadership of the Department of Public Safety on budgetary processes, to include annual cycles and future strategic planning for an auxiliary department.
- Plan and manage the assignment of parking for faculty, staff, students, and visitors; manage the operation of pay lots and paid parking zones.
- Plan, prepare, and affect parking traffic control for extracurricular campus events (e.g. athletic events, commencement, concerts, etc.).
- Perform strategic planning, procurement, implementation, and assessment for parking related technologies parking maintenance, and parking enhancements.
- Provide leadership on daily services provided by Parking and Transit Services to include assistance to all motorists on campus.
- Collaborate with University departments and personnel to plan and develop improved or additional parking facilities.
- Collect and provide department statistics, data, and assessment on parking trends.
- Facilitate the biannual meeting of the Parking and Transit Services Advisory Committee, a committee of the faculty senate.
- Participate in contractual negotiations between the university and a transit service provider.
- Serve on various department, division, and university committees.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, or relevant field; and,
- A minimum of four years of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience.
License/Certification:
- Possess a valid Ohio driver's license or the ability to obtain one within thirty days of hire.
Knowledge Of:
- Financial and budgetary processes in higher education
- Strategic planning methods
- Project management principles
- Parking technologies
- Assessment and statistical analysis methodology
Skill In:
- Written, verbal, interpersonal communication, to include conflict resolution
- Utilization of Microsoft Office and applicable software and applications
- Adhering to deadlines
- Organizing information and processes
- Aligning processes with department, division, and university priorities
Ability To:
- Provide leadership and direction
- Establish relationships with constituents, to include students, staff, faculty, and the parking and transit services advisory committee
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Participate in the overall objectives of a parking and transit services
- Promote a campus climate of inclusivity, kindness, and respect
Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:
- Master's degree in public administration, business administration, or higher education preferred.
- Possess a parking professional certification, such as a certification from the International Parking and Mobility Institute.

Exposed to variable temperatures and weather conditions.
Working Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm, or otherwise discussed with you supervisor.
