Associate Network Design Engineer

$52,232 - $56,400
Basic Function:
Establishment and maintenance of less complex networking functions that support multiple LANs and wireless. Design, implementation, operation, automate, administration and control of high speed/high performance communications networks. Ongoing support to user departments operating local area networks to integrate and optimize remote computing capabilities. Reports to designated administrator.

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Responsibilities include designing, installing, and troubleshooting less complex network and wireless systems to meet the functional objectives of the business, involving configuration and maintenance of less complex physical and logical network components.
Perform capacity and resource planning, assessing network risks and contingency planning.
Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of less complex network management software; researching, analyzing, and implementing software patches or hardware changes to fix any network deficiencies. Provides Tier 1/2 support.
Assist in the evaluation of new products and services.
Collaborate with other teams to design and implement tools that help automate end-to-end processes that involve the network infrastructure.
Perform related duties as assigned.
JOB COMPETENCIES:

Bachelor’s degree and 3 months related professional experience.
Or an Associate’s degree and 2 years related professional experience.
Or comparable related professional experience equivalent to 4 years.
License/Certification:
None.
Knowledge Of:
Network systems design; installation and customization of network components and operating system configurations
Network protocols such as OSPF, Link Aggregation (LAG), 802.1Q (Trunks), VLAN, and WLAN
Introductory understanding of Switches, and Wireless LAN Controllers
Strong understanding of OSI Model
Network security procedures
Skill In:
Scripting Languages (Examples: Python, R, Perl, C, C++, Yaml)
Communication skills to effectively elicit information from users, design, and document IT related procedures
Ability To:
Analyze data and situations, reason logically and creatively identify problems, draw valid conclusions, and develop effective solutions
Ability to interpret and apply broad regulatory standards and technical specifications to assignments
Maintain cooperative working relationships with technical staff, user departments and end users
Manage time and resources and effectively balance multiple priorities
Maintain high level of quality control
