Basic Function:
Under the supervision of the Director of Employee and Labor Relations, provide critical guidance and support to campus administrators on employee and labor relations matters for staff to include progressive discipline and corrective action, employee job performance or behavior concerns, employee complaints and grievances, alternate dispute resolution, strategic management of employee or labor issues, transitional work program and performance management for AFSCME represented employees and non-faculty employees. Assist with implementing a comprehensive employee relations strategy to effectively manage complex workplace relationships, employee engagement and workplace culture. Reports to Associate Vice President, People and Culture or designee..

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Consult with University management at all levels on employee relations and labor relations topics, including progressive discipline and corrective action, employee job performance or behavior concerns, employee complaints and grievances, alternate dispute resolution, strategic management of employee or labor issues, transitional work program and the performance management process. Consult with Director as needed.
Review, administer, interpret, and provide advice/guidance, and training regarding the terms and provisions of the University's collective bargaining agreements and University procedures and policies dealing with employee/labor relations matters.
Conduct investigations, audits, reviews, and in-depth analytical studies and make recommendations regarding grievances, complaints, disciplinary actions, and other employee relations issues.
Serve as a disciplinary Hearing Officer, conduct investigations, recommend effective resolutions, and prepare reports/notices.
Provide support to Director on a variety of routine and non-routine issues.
Work collaboratively within the Division of People, Culture and Belonging related to employee relations, labor relations and performance management issues.
Provide coaching, counsel, guidance and collaboration with campus stakeholders relative to employee relations, performance and disciplinary action.
Develop and design performance improvement plans after mediation or adjudication for employees with performance issues; assist in monitoring 60/90 day classified probationary evaluations.
Respond to employee and management inquiries concerning policies and procedures.
Serve on department, division, and University committees
Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, conflict management, business or closely related field of study. A minimum of three years of generalist, labor relations, and employee relations experience. Possesses analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations. Must be able to work nontraditional hours when necessary, including evenings and weekends.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Ability to move or transport 10 – 20 pounds. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
