Job Title:

 Academic Laboratory Coordinator

Physical Location:

 Stark Campus - North Canton, OH

Salary:

$15.75 - $19.83 

Basic Function:

To coordinate and oversee the daily operations of a laboratory facility. Reports to designated Supervisor.

Additional Basic Function – if applicable:

 To provide support and resources for science facility teaching lab sections and conducting research.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Issue materials and equipment.

Maintain appropriate laboratory supplies.

Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.

Provide instruction to students on proper laboratory procedures and methods.

Maintain records and files.

May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis throughout the year.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable:

 
The Sciences on the Stark Campus include seven (7) teaching labs, four (4) research labs, and four (4) prep rooms. The following is a list of duties to be performed: · Provide safety training and ensure compliance within guidelines established by the Office of Environmental Health and Safety. · Procure materials for the Biology, Chemistry, and Geology labs. · Clean, organize, and prep academic lab spaces. · Maintain inventory of chemicals and supplies. · Maintain laboratory equipment and instruct individuals on their proper usage. · Assist faculty with the development of lab session planning. · Supervise up to two (2) part-time student Lab Assistants. · Coordinate with the Stark Campus Business Office, including the mailroom, on the ordering and delivery of supplies. · Collaborate with faculty, Maintenance, and Academic Affairs on ordering and installing new equipment. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; two years of related experience.

License/Certification:

 

Knowledge Of:

Personal computer applications

Skill In:

Written and interpersonal communication

Ability To:

Manage people and projects

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; two years of related experience. Work as a student may count as experience if such training required significant lab work. KNOWLEDGE OF: Personal computer applications. Lab equipment and lab safety.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.

Working Schedule:

40 hours per week with the occasional coverage of evening labs.
