Job Title:

TRIO Upward Bound Academic Program Coordinator (Classic)

Physical Location:

 Kent Campus - Kent, OH

Salary:

 $45,599

Basic Function:

Provide coordination and assist in the planning and management of the TRIO Upward Bound program and initiatives. Reports to the Program Director, Upward Bound Programs.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Provide weekly on-site coordination and leadership of the TRIO Upward Bound program initiatives to assigned high schools.

Lead, direct and provide oversight in the development and delivery of educational programming, and external communication for TRIO program.

Provide outreach and support services to faculty, staff and students for the TRIO program – including individual consultations, serve as resource person for information, referrals and advocacy.

Conduct workshops; give lectures on academic and college readiness related topics.

Assist the Director, Upward Bound with strategic planning, program management and operations.

Plan, monitor and maintain budgets for programs.

Supervise assigned staff and/or student personnel.

Assist in information analysis, conduct research and develop/prepare reports – including the oversight of grant-funded projects and manage the report requirements.

Coordinate a variety of Upward Bound projects and events (i.e. Path to College, engagement days, Trips, Plans for Postsecondary Summer Component development; supervision of part time staff; college and career readiness; academic and postsecondary advising; Senior Bridge to College program development).

Maintain accurate and detailed student records.

Serve on various university committees.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Undergraduate Degree in a relevant field and two years of progressively responsible experience with program management, educational programs and/or curriculum planning and specific experience with TRIO populations and academic support.

License/Certification:

Not applicable. 

Knowledge Of:

Issues significant to TRIO population issues; knowledge of related laws and regulations *

Skill In:

Organization and implementation of events *
Written, verbal, interpersonal communication; including public speaking / public relations skills *
Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable software *
Organizing information and projects *
Adhering to deadlines *

Ability To:

Provide leadership and direction and to analyze situations and develop effective solutions *
Build meaningful relationships with program participants *
Develop a coordinated workflow / timeline to manage multiple projects with the ability to build relationships with external/internal constituents *
Develop budgets, event production timelines *
Work independently and as part of a team *

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Master's degree preferred in a related field (counseling, K-12, education administration, higher education, curriculum).

Working Schedule:

 Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm or otherwise discussed with your supervisor.
